What Does Overload Protection Actually Mean:
Generally any brand hoist with "Overload Protection" means it has a built in safety feature to ensure the user does not overload the hoist causing it to fail and/or injury to the user..
The manufacturers set the overload engagement to around 30% to 50% ABOVE the Maximum Working Load Limit (WLL) so on a 9.0T WLL Lever Hoist the overload system would engage around 12.0T (Approx 3.0T above its WLL)
